New Year Message from Jeanie Sweet

Happy New Year Tanglewood Garden Club Members!

Hopefully, your year is off to a fantastic start.  Most could not have ever imagined 2020 would be the wild rollercoaster ride it turned out to be.  Despite the ups and downs, we sincerely hope you enjoyed our Virtual Fall Social at Home, Virtual Fall Outing, and Sweet Santa Gift Drop.  Many thanks to these Committees and Volunteers for keeping our members connected through creative virtual streaming and highly organized deliveries!  TGC also made a generous donation to each of our hard-working Tanglewood Patrol Officers.

As we begin 2021, unfortunately, COVID-19 cases are on the rise once again.  We are still not able to meet in person and it is unknown when we will be able to do so.  Please note the following cancellations for our upcoming events as well as name contest and Bylaws updates.

CANCELLED – January 19, 2021, General Meeting

CANCELLED – February 16, 2021, February Social

NAME CONTEST UPDATE

The finalist of the Name Contest is (…drum roll please…) the Tanglewood Club.  Congratulations to the member who submitted this name!

What is next?  A General Membership vote will take place the next time we can all safely meet in person.  The name of our Club will ONLY change IF a minimum of two thirds (2/3) of the members in attendance vote in favor of the new name.  Otherwise, the name will NOT change.  Until an in-person vote can take place, this topic is tabled.

BYLAWS UPDATE

A Bylaws Committee was formed, and the Bylaws were updated.  The updated Bylaws were voted upon by the Board and passed unanimously.

What is next?  A General Membership vote will take place the next time we can all safely meet in person.  The updated Bylaws will be emailed out to the membership at least ten days prior to the vote.  The Bylaws Update will ONLY change IF a minimum of two thirds (2/3) of the members in attendance vote in favor of the updated Bylaws.  Otherwise, the Bylaws will NOT change.  Until an in-person vote can take place, this topic is tabled.

The Board will meet in late February to proceed with nominations to elect a new slate of Officers to begin on May 1st of this year for our 2021-2022 year.  Established in 1951, this will mark TGC’s 70th anniversary!  As some challenges remain, with COVID-19 vaccinations actively underway, we are hopeful to be able to gather in the Spring.  We will keep everyone posted on the Spring scheduling and look forward to the day we can welcome everyone back.

Until then, please stay safe and take care.

Cheers to a brighter New Year,

Jeanie Sweet

TGC President, 2020-21
